An exploration in memory and nostalgia.

Reminiscence exists not only within the frame of one’s mind but also through the strokes of paint and fragmented color. This cinematic sense is used to exhibit the nostalgic occurrences of simple, yet fragmented memories displayed throughout my life. An image emerges that the viewer can recognize but not necessarily place; something almost tangible, inviting the viewer to ask if what is unknown means more than what is known.

Through painting and mixed media, my work responds to the temporary and poignant moments and spaces that evoke feelings of nostalgia, longing, and memory.  These scenes are exhibited in a way that establishes a context, interpretive to the audience but familiar to the mind. My work invites the viewer to visually inhabit these spaces… walking the hallways, looking out windows, and discovering memories once lost, found in a seemingly normal reality.
